- Education facility for Schools and Universities
- Star chart for stargazers
- Site for an annual community Summer Solstice celebration
- Regional landmark
The Star Disc project supports the stated aims of Derbyshire Dales District Council:
‘To enhance the quality of life for people living, working and visiting the Derbyshire Dales.
Encourage a cohesive network of arts organisations.
Increase the number and accessibility of facilities.
Assist in the support of the creative Industries.’
